About The Senator's Wife

I started this blog on a whim thinking it would be fun to write about politics while my husband served in the OK State Senate. The jury's still out on that, but having a front row seat on the sideline of Oklahoma politics has been one big adventure.

Moving Day

The Senator is re-locating his business office today.  He thinks it will take an hour.  I am guessing a few…even though he is only moving a mile down the road.  Like I have said before, the man has a lot of stuff. This photo was taken roughly fifteen years ago shortly after he moved into his business office. Note the lack of clutter.

Goodbye Possum Creek Place. You were a good home.

The Senator’s son has an Algebra final today.   I am not smarter than my 9th grader in this area.  Let’s just say all those formulas are Greek to me. The last time Algebra and I met was during the summer before my senior year in college.  I needed a math credit to graduate and summer school seemed like the best time to tackle this phobia one on one.  I still have a complete and total gut wrenching fear of math.  Numbers and I do not mix.  Anyone who knows me understands this.  I am not wired this way.  Good luck my son. May the force be with you today!

The Senator’s daughter continues to make her list and checks it way more than twice……that girl has a list.  A big list.

And, I am scurrying around frantically today with the understanding that the kid’s will be on Christmas vacation in roughly ….wait, I am calculating…..roughly 33 hours. Give or take a few 🙂

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Christmas Countdown

I so enjoy Christmas Carols.  I could probably listen to them year round if my family would let me. So, I wait to pull them out of my bag o’ tricks until right around Thanksgiving.  Of course, I am always careful not to play any Christmas music until after Thanksgiving because we are highly disciplined around here and take things one holiday at a time. Yeah, anyway…

I am always looking for newer versions of old songs to keep it fresh and this particular rendition of Carol of the Bells by the Celtic Women was one of my newer finds a few years ago.  That is, if you can get over the fact they all look like Disney Princesses up on stage… and the part when the blonde with the violin does an Irish jig in heels and a ball gown.

Truly one of my favorite carols though and sung beautifully by these women…..

Any recommendations of a newer version or any other holiday tune that is your favorite?  The closet musician in me wants to know!

Making a list and checking it twice…

It’s Monday and I’m re-grouping.

The Senator’s son is in finals all week so I am well versed in Physics and English Literature now. Next on deck….Latin.

Our Christmas tree is finally up and ornamented and our dog has not pee’d on it yet……but he’s been thinking about it.  What is it about dogs and trees?  Seriously.

The Senator remains busy and preoccupied. There was a Bill filing deadline last week at the marble palace and this week he’s relocating his ‘real’ business office. If only you knew how much stuff the man is capable of accumulating you would be there with a camera.  I think he’s done his Christmas shopping though!  He gets bonus points for that.

The Senator’s daughter has been busy too. She decided to make her gifts this year. Love that girl and am considering the purchase of a sewing machine to assist her with these endeavors.  She is crafty and creative and she will be the next Martha Stewart Pioneer Woman… I love watching this precious girl create. (Add to list another trip to Hobby Lobby for supplies.)

Then, there is the issue with my pesky ol’ to-do list which has been rapidly expanding. However, I seem to be at peace with the three hundred fifty thousand tasks that need to be accomplished because Christmas is coming and I am continually reminded of the best gift ever given…..

Christmas is coming……
