About The Senator's Wife

I started this blog on a whim thinking it would be fun to write about politics while my husband served in the OK State Senate. The jury's still out on that, but having a front row seat on the sideline of Oklahoma politics has been one big adventure.

Spring Break

The Senate has been in session for a little over a month now and they are kind of making a dent in the well over 2,500 pieces of legislation that were filed.

I think the Senator told me they were averaging about 70 bills a day?  Not too shabby.

On another note, my mother-in-law turned 85 last week. She invited me to go to her garden club with her next month.  I love that woman! Really, I do. You have no idea how much.  She is an amazing lady and I have written about her before.

It’s also spring break here in Oklahoma, and let me tell ya – as tax payers….y’all are getting your money’s worth.  No spring break for those elected officials down at the marble palace.  The Senate will be in session all week which means we are …um, here…at home….

And, we’re having fun with that……

I think.

Ree

I have been preoccupied lately and blogging has not made the top five list of things I feel I need to be doing. And, I’m not going to feel guilty about that……or, that is what I am telling myself anyway.

But, I did have lunch with my fun friend, Ree the other day.  Actually, I introduced her at an event which was not an easy thing to do….she is complex and I have known her all of my life…and I had stories.  Lots of stories.  So, condensing all of that into a short little intro took some time. Of course, it had to be absolutely perfect!

I invited her home town BFF, Becky to come to the lunch which made this a mini-BFF reunion.  And I also included some other friends that Ree has met at my house before.

Then, I invited some friends who Ree had not met, but I knew she would enjoy.

We also invited her mom, Gee to visit and surprise Ree with her attendance.  This was the really fun part – getting to hear my BFF scream when she saw her mommy.

And all of her mommy’s friends…..

Then,  I ran home…packed up my bags and left town with the Senator for this place…..

I love this town.

Caught on Tape….

…or something like that.  Our friend Pam, who works at the Capitol with the Senator, posted this fun video of some real action happening down at the marble palace.  Pam has a blog, takes awesome photos and can now add videographer to her list of accomplishments. Here, she caught a little glimpse of life as a capitol intern and two Oklahoma teens making the most of walking the halls shouting “Roll Call,”  over and over again.

Seriously, this young man should have a radio gig before he graduates. Awesome voice.  Maybe they can record him doing his ‘roll call’ thing and simply punch play every day. Might lighten things up down there if you know what I mean….

Thanks Pam for catching this one on video!
