Traditions

Every year, the night before Easter we invite friends and families over to our house for a pre Easter dinner of sorts. I don’t know when this became a tradition of ours, but it did and we wouldn’t trade it for the world. Lots of eggs are hidden in the yard for hunting, only now the eggs are filled with coins, cash and candy.  We usually orchestrate an egg toss or other crazy Easter games, and always the combination of delicious food and fun friends.  This year, many of us had given up things for Lent and agreed the evening would be the perfect time to enjoy the contraband.  Shall we say, it had been a long 40 days…

The adults stayed late around the table, discussing our different church traditions, Easter celebrations, summer plans…and, of course our kids, who at this point were chasing each other outside with flashlights.

Sadly, this is the only photo I have….but, I think it’s a keeper!

Enjoy!

Life

My life this past month in photos from my new phone……….

I think this is somewhere outside of Felt, Oklahoma.  Don’t ask. But, Oklahoma is still as dry and dusty as that photo would indicate.  At least in my neck of the woods.  Doing the rain dance as we speak….

My awesome sister-in-law waiting for a table at a restaurant in D.C.  I love this girl.  My brother does too and that is a good thing cause we are keeping her in the family.

The Senator’s back side.  Let me re-phrase that….we had some families over to grill hamburgers recently and I thought the Senator was looking mighty cute and clever with his make-shift utensil holder.  I know. I’m a nerd.

My mom and I in New Mexico on a hike…before that first cup of coffee.  Seriously, someone please tell me to put on mascara!  No doubt I was responsible for scaring all wildlife away.

Yes, the quality here is far from award-winning but it was one of my first self portraits on my iPhone.  The Senator and I in our hotel lobby in D.C.  It was very late.

My next post won’t be from my phone.  It will be a picture of my desk so you can see what I have been up to….hint, it does not involve laundry….but it should.  That situation is one day away from being a threat to national security.

Road Trip!

So…the Senator’s daughter and I managed to sneak in a little road trip to New Mexico over Spring Break. Just us girls.

Along with my mom of course, because we stayed at her place!

We took in the sites..

It was just breathtaking.

And spiritual….

And serene.

And….interesting.

And unusually warm that week, so the Senator’s daughter grabbed her paints and we headed toward the river.

It was the perfect place to spend the afternoon…

And special time together.

Thanks mom!
